About Us
"Meet me at Shoemaker's"
If you've lived in the Lincoln, NE area for a long time you don't need an address when someone says "Meet me at Shoemaker's." You know we've been out on West O since 1967.
Whether it was for a late-late supper after dancing the night away at the Pla-Mor or for breakfast or lunch with friends traveling through Lincoln, you knew you could find good food and plenty of it at Shoemaker's Restaurant.
Whenever the weather conditions get bad enough to be newsworthy, local newscasters know they're always welcome at Shoemaker's to search out the trucker or traveler with the best road story to tell. In fact, camera crews of all sorts are a common sight at Shoemaker's because the owners are on site daily, which eliminates the red tape a corporate stop entails when getting permission to shoot footage. From the background of a "Wife Swap" episode on TV to photos in Time magazine, pictures of our place show up in the most unexpected of places.
Like the city we call home, Shoemaker's is growing and changing. In 2009 we built a larger facility directly across the street from our old place. You can't miss us, what with our flashy new signs and bright buildings, and a new traffic light at the corner of SW 48th and West O to keep the traffic flowing smoothly.
What you'll also find on the south side is an updated facility with gasoline and fuel islands on separate sides of the building, making it easy for cars to get in and out quickly without feeling intimidated by the big rigs. You'll find three times the store space filled with truck and travel necessities and convenience store items, free WiFi, an ATM, and a Game Room Arcade. You'll also find off-sale beer and ice, making us an ideal stop on your way to summer-time or anytime fun.
Whatever your reason for stopping in at the new Shoemaker's Shell Travel Center be sure to take time to see our beautiful hand-painted mural depicting scenes from Historic Hwy. 6. Once you see it you'll know why we received an Honorable Mention for Best Interior from Convenience Store News in 2010, and why AAA On-Line Magazine lists Shoemaker's as a "Trendy Truck Stop."
Welcome to Shoemaker's. We're glad you came.
